Austin, Texas, USA Live Oak Brewing Company, a fixture of the Austin craft beer scene known for its traditional European-style lagers and ales, is making a major shift in its distribution strategy.

After nearly three decades of handling its own deliveries, the brewery is partnering with two prominent Texas distributors: Capital Reyes Distributing for the Austin area and Silver Eagle Beverages for San Antonio and surrounding markets.

This move marks a new phase for one of Texas’s long-standing independent breweries. The goal is to provide wider access to Live Oak’s popular beers, including their flagship HefeWeizen and Pilz, leveraging the enhanced infrastructure and scale of these distribution partners.

“For 28 years, we’ve brewed our beer and delivered it ourselves—every keg, every case,” said Chip McElroy, President and Founder of Live Oak Brewing Co. in the announcement. “But now, we’re stepping forward with trusted partners who share our values and help us reach more Texans than ever—without compromising what’s made Live Oak special.”

The collaboration was guided by Lone Star Beverage Brands (LSBB). Patrick Collins, Reyes Market President for Capital Reyes Distributing, expressed excitement about partnering with Live Oak, acknowledging the strong business built by the Live Oak team.

Greg Mitchell, President of Silver Eagle Beverages, echoed this sentiment, stating their honor to join forces with a brewery committed to quality and tradition, and their pride in helping expand Live Oak’s reach in the San Antonio market.

With these new partnerships covering key markets like Austin and San Antonio, Live Oak is significantly strengthening its distribution presence. This change also allows the brewery to dedicate its focus entirely to beer production, innovation, and maintaining quality standards.

According to McElroy, Lone Star Beverage Brands played a critical role in the transition, providing clarity, confidence, and credibility throughout the process.

Live Oak also noted it will continue its existing partnerships with Faust Distributing Company and Houston Distributing Company in the Houston region, and Jack Hilliard Distributing Company in the Temple/Bryan area, ensuring availability across various parts of the state.

Live Oak Brewing Co. remains independently owned and continues to brew all its beers on-site at its brewery near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Founded in 1997, the brewery is one of Texas’s oldest and most respected craft producers, specializing in Old-World-style lagers and ales made with traditional methods and imported ingredients, which have cultivated a loyal following throughout the state.
