Hertfordshire, England – BerryWorld, now part of the AgroBerries Group and a leading global soft fruit producer and distributor, has partnered with Tropic Cool Ltd to launch a significant new berry farming project in Rwanda.
The initiative, dubbed Rwanda Berries, aims to establish a world-class commercial farm that will export high-quality berries to markets in the Middle East, Europe, and Central Asia.
This exciting expansion into Africa leverages Rwanda’s strategic geographic location, complementing supply windows from Southern Africa and South America. The country’s favorable climate also offers ideal growing conditions.
The collaboration could involve licensing and supplying award-winning varieties, including BerryWorld Plus Diamond Jubilee raspberries, Mountain Blue Orchards Eureka Sunrise blueberries, and Fall Creek Sekoya premium blueberries.
Rwanda Berries plans to cultivate 150 hectares of land exclusively for blueberry and raspberry production over the next five years, creating over 1,200 jobs in Rwanda.
BerryWorld will provide technical support to ensure the project’s success, while Rwanda Berries will export its harvest to BerryWorld’s extensive customer network.
“We are very excited about collaborating with BerryWorld on creating an entirely new agricultural export industry in Rwanda,” said Avi Drori, CEO of Tropic Cool. “We believe that we have found the ideal country to build a long-lasting and competitive industry that will provide nearer access to fresh, premium berries.”
Adrian Olins, CEO of BerryWorld’s Marketing division, added, “We are looking forward to working with Avi and his team at Rwanda Berries…who we are confident will execute a world-class agriculture project, providing a positive impact on Rwanda’s society and environment and greater access to premium berries for nearby commercial markets.”
