Austin, Minnesota – Hormel Foods Corporation, a global branded food company, has announced the re-appointment of Jeffrey M. Ettinger, chairman of The Hormel Foundation, to its Board of Directors.
The appointment is effective March 21, 2025.
The Hormel Foundation, a non-profit organization, beneficially owns approximately 46% of Hormel Foods’ outstanding common stock. Ettinger has a long history with Hormel Foods, having previously served on the Board of Directors and retiring in 2016 after a successful tenure as president and chief executive officer.

He emphasized Ettinger’s commitment to supporting Hormel Foods, its shareholders, and the community of Austin, Minnesota. Newlands also highlighted the company’s relationship with The Hormel Foundation, established over 80 years ago to support Hormel Foods.
Returning to the Hormel Foods Board of Directors is a privilege and honor,
Ettinger said.
He expressed his anticipation of representing The Hormel Foundation and working with the board and management to contribute to Hormel Foods’ future growth.
Ettinger will join the board’s Governance Committee and CEO Search Committee.
About Jeffrey Ettinger

Ettinger is currently chairman of The Hormel Foundation, a major community foundation and grantmaker in Minnesota. In this role, he oversees the distribution of charitable donations to organizations in and around Austin, Minnesota.
He also served as the interim president of the University of Minnesota from 2023 to 2024. Previously, he was president and chief executive officer of Hormel Foods from 2005 to 2016.
Ettinger’s prior roles at Hormel Foods include corporate attorney, treasurer, and president of Jennie-O Turkey Store, Inc. Ettinger is also an experienced independent public company director, having served on the boards of The Toro Company and Ecolab Inc.
Ettinger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles.
