BOLGHERI, Italy – Italian wine estate Ornellaia is releasing its Ornellaia Bianco 2022!
This Sauvignon Blanc is grown in Bolgheri. Ornellaia Bianco expresses the estate’s unique location and soil qualities.
Marco Balsimelli, Technical Director of Ornellaia, notes that this release embodies the Ornellaia philosophy: “The balance between elegance and complexity can be seen in this taut, deeply textured wine.”
The 2022 growing season started with normal winter temperatures. followed by a cool and dry spring. A dry spell from May through the summer months made harvest ideal, with cool night-time temperatures contributing to acidity and aroma development. All the various grapes were harvested as soon as they were ripe.
The grapes were harvested by hand in the early morning. After careful selection, the whole bunches underwent slow and soft pressing for alcoholic fermentation. It was aged for 10 months on the lees before bottling. Wines from the various sections were blended. Finally, it aged for 18 months before being released.
Ornellaia is located on the Tuscan coast near Bolgheri, Ornellaia is known for its dedication to quality and its renowned wines like Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore and Ornellaia Bianco Bolgheri DOC Bianco, as well as Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia, Le Volte dell’Ornellaia and Poggio alle Gazze dell’Ornellaia.
